Nancy Brittain, LCSW
Nancy Brittain (she, her, hers) is an ICEEFT-certified Therapist and Supervisor in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based method for helping couples release negative patterns and find closeness. Nancy trains and supervises therapists learning EFT and provides trainings on attachment, substance use, and EFT for clinicians, organizations and individuals. Before starting her practice, Nancy worked with young adults and their families in Wilderness Therapy, as well as building the first Family Program at Sandstone Care, an outpatient treatment center for substance use and mental health. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor at The University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work, where she teaches Relationship Therapy.
Nancy enjoys working with couples at various stages of their relationship, from pre-marital to long term partners. She loves supporting people of all ages in learning to create healthy relationships, even (and especially!) if this was not something modeled in their own upbringing. Nancy is also a Certified Discernment Counselor and provides Discernment Counseling for couples considering divorce or separation, to help them feel confidence and clarity in choosing their path forward.
Nancy has been providing supervision for therapists learning EFT since 2018, and co-created a training in 2022 for EFT Supervisors to learn to supervise in the EFT Supervision Model. In addition to her direct work with clients, she loves helping therapists to grow in their skills and confidence, and to bring intention to their growth and learning.
Nancy participates in ongoing training and supervision in Emotionally-Focused Therapy, antiracism, and working with diverse populations including LGBTQIA+. She works hard to make her office a safe(r) space for folks with marginalized identities.
When not practicing therapy, Nancy enjoys hanging out with her giant dog, gardening, cooking, and doing DIY house projects. She also likes getting out in Colorado’s natural beauty, whether through backcountry skiing, mountain biking, or just walking around the neighborhood.
Nancy sees clients in-person in the Denver office and via telehealth using a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform. She has availability Monday - Thursday.
