Sara Haynes, LMFT
Sara (she/her/hers) is a Marriage and Family Therapist who works with those who experience anxiety, self-esteem issues, life transition, heartbreak, and individuals seeking support in dating. Sara also specializes in premarital/early stage couples, couples with young children, and provides Discernment Counseling for couples considering divorce or separation, to help them feel confidence and clarity in choosing their path forward.
Clients who work with Sara experience a sense of safety through her compassionate, authentic, and relatable approach. She is an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist who works to honor each client’s unique identity by approaching the therapeutic process from a lens of curiosity and cultural sensitivity. She will start off by centering your life and relationship experiences with care and consideration. Then, collaboratively you will identify what is working, discover your relational needs, and address areas that leave you feeling stuck. She aims for clients to leave their session understanding they are not a self-improvement project, but a worthy person growing and evolving.
Before becoming a therapist, Sara received a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and was a teacher for over five years. She has extensive experience and knowledge in early development, which led her to pursue a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northeastern Illinois University. She is a licensed LMFT in Colorado and Illinois, and has trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence based method for helping individuals and couples change negative patterns and increase closeness and connection. Additionally, she has training and experience utilizing the Internal Family Systems model (IFS), and the Gottman Method. Her work is rooted in family systems and attachment theory.
Beyond her clinical work, Sara is passionate about identifying and implementing creative solutions that enhance team cohesion, and overall organizational success. She leverages her clinical insights and educational background to streamline operations, and create supportive structures that allow therapists to deliver exceptional care. Her initiatives aim to optimize client outcomes while also promoting a healthy and fulfilling work environment for therapists. Outside of the therapy office. Sara enjoys the slow moments. She enjoys a good yoga flow, cuddles with her cat, watering her plants, reading a good book in her hammock, and exploring Colorado’s great outdoors.
Sara sees clients in-person in the Denver office and via Telehealth using a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform. She has availability Monday - Thursday. Her session rates are $200/50 minutes and $300/75 minutes.
