Kate Tune (Steininger), MFTC

Kate (she, her, hers) is a Marriage and Family Therapist who works with individuals, couples, families and teens. Kate specifically helps support those experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, stress, lack of self compassion, life transitions, substance abuse, break-ups, and relationship challenges. She enjoys working with individuals in any relationship, but specializes in working with premarital/early stage couples, new parents, couples managing parenthood while maintaining their relationship, affair recovery, and parent-child relationships. Kate believes that every relationship in an individual’s life contributes to how they view themselves and their emotions and is passionate about helping heal previous wounds to create more effective communication about emotional needs.

Kate is training to become certified in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based method for helping couples change negative patterns in conflict and increase closeness and connection. She is also trained in the Prepare / Enrich model, which helps set premarital couples up for long term relationship success. Kate received a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northern Illinois University and prior to graduate school, studied Psychology and Spanish at Augustana College.

As a therapist, Kate is passionate about creating a safe and accepting environment where clients feel they can learn to grow and heal. She strives to make sure that every individual that steps into her office feels heard and understood. Kate guides clients to use their emotions as a tool to better understand their needs and boundaries, both intra- and interpersonally. She is committed to her own personal and professional growth and continues to participate in training and supervision in Emotionally Focused Therapy and working with diverse populations including LGBTQIA+.

Outside of therapy, Kate enjoys crafting, gardening, live music, and spending time with her partner and pets. She also loves being outdoors and exploring Denver, the Rocky Mountains, and everything Colorado has to offer.

Kate sees clients in-person in the Denver office and via telehealth using a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform. She has availability Monday - Friday. Her session rates are $160/50 minutes and $240/75 minutes.
